            FACE VALUE AND PLACE VALUE

            Face Value

The face value of a digit in a number is the digit itself at whatever place it may be.

Example 1. Find the face value of each digit in 6895.

Solution. The face value of 6 is 6. The face value of 9 is 9. Th H T O

                         The face value of 8 is 8. The face value of 5 is 5. 6 8 9 5

            Place Value

The place value of a digit in a number depends upon its position in the number.

The place value of 0 is always 0, at whatever place it may be.
